Monitor → Dashboards
The Monitor page is the fleet-wide situational view. It opens on a row of tabs, each presenting your estate from a different angle: a numbers overview, a geographic map, a site hierarchy, live health, historical trends, a compliance heatmap, and a real-time activity feed. (Network diagnostic tools live on the Tools tab — see Network Tools.)
The core tabs load for any signed-in user (Compliance additionally requires app.fact_policies.execute); what changes with your permissions is whether the clickable elements (drill-downs into a resource, into Manage, or into an automation run) are active. Health, inventory, and activity data come straight from what the platform has already collected — nothing here changes your estate.
Filter controls
Each tab carries its own filter strip; filters stack and apply as you set them.
| Control | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-refresh | Toggle live updates on or off. | Overview, Map, Grid, Health |
| Resource Type | Limit the view to one resource type. | Map, Grid, Health, Trends, Events |
| Location | Limit to a location (searchable). | Map, Grid, Health, Trends, Events |
| Tags | Limit to resources carrying all of the selected tags (visible with app.resources.read). | Map, Grid, Health, Trends, Events |
| Status | Limit by health status — Critical, Degraded, Healthy, Unknown. | Map (on Health, click a count card instead) |
The Overview tab has only the Auto-refresh toggle; Events adds Event Type and Resource Name filters of its own.
Tabs
Overview
A snapshot of the whole estate:
- Summary cards: total Resources, percent Healthy, Active Sessions, and Workers.
- Distribution charts for connectivity status and resource health, plus a System card listing each platform component with a status dot and its response time.
- A bar chart of resource counts by type.
- A recent-activity feed for the last 24 hours.
Click a chart segment, a bar, or a card to jump to a pre-filtered Manage view; click an activity entry to open the resource it refers to.
Map
An interactive world map with one marker per location. Marker size reflects how many resources sit there; marker color reflects the worst health status among them. Click a marker for a popup with the location’s resource list and health summary, and a View all in Manage link. Locations without coordinates are not plotted — a banner tells you how many resources are left off the map as a result. To place them, assign coordinates to the location: in the Manage tree, open its ⋮ menu → Edit (see Manage → Browse).
Maps use OpenStreetMap by default. Administrators can enable CARTO backgrounds that follow the application theme; see Configure map backgrounds.
Grid
A nested treemap of your location hierarchy — parent locations render as headers around their children. Each block is a location sized by resource count and colored by the percentage of healthy resources: green ≥ 90%, yellow ≥ 70%, orange ≥ 50%, red below 50%, grey for no data (the legend above the treemap shows the same bands). Hover for the exact figures; click a block to open that location.
Health
A severity-sorted, expandable list of resources with health data, plus four count cards (Critical, Degraded, Healthy, Unknown). Expand a resource to see its individual metrics, each with a status icon, current value, and collection time. A search box filters the list by name or type. Click a resource name or a count card to drill in.
Trends
Historical analysis over a time window you choose. Pick a Trend to study:
- Config Changes — how much configuration churn occurred over time.
- Health States — the mix of healthy/degraded/critical resources across the window (toggle between absolute counts and a 100% normalized view).
- Health Transitions — when resources flipped status.
- Remote Sessions — session volume over time.
- Top Unstable Resources — a ranked table of the resources that changed health most often.
Click any chart point (or Inspect slot evidence on the table) to expand the underlying events for that time slot, with links to the resources involved.
Compliance
The fleet-wide compliance heatmap — how your resources evaluate against the fact-policy rules, across the whole estate. Visible with app.fact_policies.execute. The view, statuses, and drill-downs are the same as the Compliance card on resource Summary.
Events
A live feed of operations from the last 24 hours — config snapshots, sessions, playbook runs, and resource actions — newest first. Running operations show a progress bar; finished ones show how long ago they completed. Filter by event type, resource type, location, tags, or resource name. Click an entry to open the related resource or automation run; hover a badge for operation details.
Permissions
- View the Monitor tabs: any signed-in user, except Compliance which requires
app.fact_policies.execute. - Drill into resources / Manage:
app.resources.read. - Drill into automation runs from Events:
app.automation.read. - Tags filter:
app.resources.read, within your allowed locations. - Resource event summaries (snapshots, resource actions and sessions):
app.resources.read, within your allowed locations, regardless of who initiated the activity. Session details and recordings retain their separate permissions.
